Noel E. Jefferson's unrelenting spirit and determination are signs of her character and will generate new and valuable results on the critical issues in our District.  Her intellectual creativity prompted her, even before becoming a formidable candidate, to carry discussions of the District’s issues to the airwaves on her weekly cable program, “As-of-Right.”  Noel’s documentary, “As-of-Right The Doc”, brings to light several issues adverse to a healthy environment caused by a telecom building within our District, including noise and an exorbitant amount of diesel fuel storage as well as its manual transference.  Numerous variances granted by the Board of Standard Appeals have allowed the telecom building to increase the amount of diesel fuel storage to more than 100,000 gallons.  Noel’s documentary identified approximately 42 toxins that spew from the diesel fuel in that building into our District daily – affecting children, students, local residents and workers.  Noel also played an active role in thwarting the DOT plan to park 20 buses in our District.

A former adjunct professor, Noel is also an advocate for more Downtown classrooms and an improved school system, affordable housing, and additional green spaces.  Her excellent interpersonal skills will be an asset to the position of District Leader.  I look forward to working closely with her in the years ahead on issues critical to the District.

It is because of all of this that I heartily endorse her for Democratic District Leader (Female) for Assembly District 66, Part B.

Alan J. Gerson,
Council Member, District 1

Noel E. Jefferson has my wholehearted endorsement for my counterpart as Democratic District Leader (Female) for Assembly District 66, Part B. Noel is the most determined and energetic District Leader candidate I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. She steps up to the front line and takes charge of the situation whatever it may be. Noel stands on the front line for change regarding many issues critical to the District, including fair housing, noise and other nuisance problems, and environmental health and safety, and she creates new solutions to old and critical problems. She will be a breath of fresh air in seeking out and representing the views of the District on such critical issues to our elected officials.

I enthusiastically endorse Noel Jefferson for the position of Democratic District Leader.  As a colleague of Noel’s on Community Board No. 1, where her fellow Board members have twice elected her Board Secretary, I have seen first-hand the intelligence, energy and enthusiasm that Noel brings to bear on issues impacting our Lower Manhattan community....more

District Leader indeed , Noel is more than that she should be our next Councilwoman perhaps even our Mayor and then Senator.  She has a firm grip on the local issues that need tending to involving her community.  As a strong advocate she will fight and lead the way in amending them.

Look out Laila Ali there is a new heavy weight champion in town with plenty of knock-out punches that will wipe out all opponents and obstacles that gets in the way of her aspirations and dreams of being the best District Leader ever for all of us.

Noel and I have had association going back as Directors with the City University of New York, I have always known her to be an exemplary administrator with an integrity on which you could depend.

Insight. Service. Creativity. Thoroughness. Each of these words characterize those critical values that Noel Jefferson will bring to the District Leadership. This leadership requires a keen ability to piece together desperate information for careful decision-making in the best interest of the entire community. Noel has that necessary ability. This leadership position must be concerned with a wide diversity of neighborhoods. Noel's experience as a faculty member, community leader, creative artist and CD#1 Board Member affords her an understanding of the unique challenges that downtown residents must resolve...from traffic issues, to homeless facilities, to landmarking. Noel will be accessible and unfailingly responsive, and is therefore, an excellent choice for District Leader.

I endorse Noel Jefferson for District Leader. She is competent, intelligent and dedicated, and would be a  staunch advocate for issues that need to be addressed in Lower Manhattan.  Her continued active participation in the community is most assuring.

In addition to all her experience and qualifications Noel is the producer of a public access television program, "As-of-Right".  On this expanding program Noel will include the issues surrounding the N.Y.U. Village Area.  She has conducted many panel-like discussions about issues concerning Lower Manhattan. The shows have been timely, and the selection of panelists is reflective of the broad spectrum of our neighborhood. This work is a particularly valuable asset for our community.  It is reflective of Noel's talents and ethics.
